Yes, I said it: Prefold diapers. You know what they are even if you never heard them called by that name. Prefold diapers are the rectangle cloth diapers that are ready for you to put on your baby. They are generally thicker in the center and thinner all over the rest of the diaper. These prefold diapers are ready to be put on your child. All you have to do is place it like you would a regular disposable diaper, and use the fasteners to fasten it so it won’t fall off of your child.

Why use Prefold Diapers?

Prefold diapers will save you money. That is only one of the major reasons to use them. They are cheaper to buy than disposable diapers, they are reusable, long lasting and they are eco friendly. They won’t sit in a landfills for many years after they are placed there. They can be used for a very long time and they are usually very durable. Also, they are less likely to irritate your child’s skin. The disposable diapers have many things in them and they can cause rashes and irritate the sensitive skin of your child.

What Kinds of Prefold diapers are there?

There are many different kinds of prefold diapers. Just to name a few, there are organic prefold diapers, CPF prefold diapers, 4x6x4 prefold diapers and 4x8x4 prefold diapers. The numbered prefold diapers tell you exactly how many layers of cloth are used. The numbers resemble the side, the middle, then the other side. So, 4x6x4 means there are  four layers on one side, six in the middle and four layers on the other side. Its best to have a lot of layers in the cloth diapers. The more layers you have, the better. When there are more layers, it lessens the chance of the diaper leaking. And, if you use one of the plastic diaper covers, it will help even more in preventing leakage. It will not only keep you and your furniture from getting wet or dirty, but it also keeps your child’s clothing stain free.  The CPF prefold diapers just mean that they are made in china and then exported.

There are many different types of fabrics used for prefold diapers. Almost all of them are made of cotton. But the make of it differs. To find out the difference in the different types of cotton prefold diapers all you have to do is Google it.
